The superstar’s dad has been left temporarily blind as he was taken ill in Brazil on his 87th birthday just two days after his family threw a party to celebrate.
Michael Jackson’s father Joe is reportedly out of intensive care as he continues to recover after suffering a stroke on his 87th birthday.
Jackson family sources originally claimed he was rushed to the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil, after waking up feeling dizzy, with no vision last Sunday morning.
Now, according to Us Weekly, he has been transferred to a regular room at the hospital.
A source claims Jackson is regaining his motor skills and starting to walk with assistance, with doctors hopeful he will be able to eat well again once he recovers more.
Once well enough, it is thought Joe will return in his daughter Janet’s private jet, before being transferred to a hospital in LA.
Janet cancelled preparation for her tour to be by her father’s bedside this week.
The All For You singer was busy preparing for The Unbreakable World Tour when her father Joe Jackson suffered a stroke.
Sources confirmed to Us Weekly the superstar took a private jet to Sao Paulo, Brazil, where her father is currently being treated.
An insider added the 49-year-old is expected to stay with her father until his condition is stable.
On Monday Joe, the man behind the Jackson 5 – the band that catapulted his son Michael to global superstardom, took to his website to reassure fans that he hoped to make a “quick recovery”.
Under a blog entitled ‘Thank You,” he wrote: “To my family, friends, acquaintances and fans all over the world. I want to thank you all for your prayers, unwavering support and kind well wishes during these trying times.
“Through God’s intervention the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and caretakers at the Albert Einstein Sao Paulo hospital have taken great care of me.
“God willing, I should be able to make a quick recovery and travel back home soon. Thank you all once again for your prayers and support.”
